There are a few things we won’t forget about our trip to Krabi. The Tab Kak Hang Nature Trail was definitely the highlight. First I will tell you more about our stay and I will come back to that beautiful hike later.
In Krabi we stayed downtown in the Srisuksant Square hostel. Difficult name to pronounce, isn’t it?
We had a good stay in this hostel but it was certainly not one of our best places we stayed in Thailand. The room was located at the street side so there was a lot of traffic noise, the mattress was really hard and there were quite a lot of ants in the room. This explains why we didn’t really like this hostel but it was fine.
The first day we explored the surrounding streets. We went to see the Buddhist Temple, Wat Kaew. The temple is located on a hill above the city’s downtown. To get to the temple you have to climb some stairs first, you can hold on to the Golden Dragon handrail and when you reach the top you can admire the beautiful white Wat Kaew Temple.
After we visited Wat Kaew Temple we went for a walk along the riverside and if you keep following the river you come to Thara Park which was nice to walk around.

That evening we had our first dinner at the night market downtown. They served fresh fish prepared in different ways, we had a cooked snapper with lemongrass and garlic. It was tasteful so we went there a few times more when we were in Krabi.
The day after we rented a scooter and went to the Tab Kak Hang Nature Trail. We did this trail upon recommendation of an American couple we met in Hanoi. We are very happy we did it as it was an amazing hike! It takes 2 hours to reach the top and it’s quite an exhausting trail as it is much uphill and the path is not in good shape either but that made the walk even more fun and challenging. It’s definitely worth the 2 hour walk when you reach the top and you see the view you forget about the exhausting hike. This view was amazing, we had no words for it. The Tab Kak Hang Nature Trail is a must-do when you are in Krabi! During our hike we also collected some trash. It’s sad to see how much trash people leave behind.. We just want to say to everyone DON’T leave your trash behind just put it in your bag if there is no bin it’s not that much of an effort. Keep nature clean!
If you want a good, filling lunch afterwords we really want to recommend Sweet Monkey. It’s a restaurant located in Ao Nang but out of the busy part and that’s what makes it a place to go to. It’s quiet, the staff is really friendly and the food is AMAZING! You can choose a traditional Thai dish or a good Italian meal. We tried both!

A holiday in Krabi cannot go by with a visit to the centre of Ao Nang and the beaches of Krabi. We spend one day exploring the city centre and the surrounding beaches. We wandered through the shopping streets and did some research online into a good place to have lunch. We found this place called BUZZ Organic Food & Drink and the food was delicious! It’s vegetarian and the products they use are fresh and tasteful. Well, the internet never lets us down when it comes to good places to eat.
After we had lunch it was time to explore some beaches. We first had a look at Ao Nang beach and from there we took a long-tail boat to Railay Beach, Railay West. Eventually we didn’t stay long at Railay West because we heard that Ao Phra Nang Beach was even prettier. So we just took some photos and walked through the Railay village, which was very cute, all the way to Phra Nang Cave Beach. And we can say that it’s even more beautiful than Railay Beach. You have the beach and it’s surrounded by caves which makes it more special. When you go into the water you can climb in the Phra Nang Princess Cave and on the beach itself you can see into the cave. The cave is the place where fishermen, before going out to sea, have made offerings. They say it’s the home of a mythical sea princess and believe their offerings will bring them success in their fishing and protect them from danger. But what is more remarkable is that the cave contains carved wooden genitals, offerings and other objects believed to help with fertility. It was pretty bizarre to see but at the same time a unique experience, I guess.

We can say that we saw the most beautiful places in Krabi but also the most bizarre places, right?

Gaan we zeker doen & we blijven onze avonturen delen!
